The Storyline:

An immediately applicable, practical course to help you hone your business strategy, create content and shape your business in a way that entirely suits you... all through story.

Finding the time to properly plan, promote and develop your business is really hard.

It can feel overwhelming and then consistency flies out the window and you freeze, achieving nothing.

Approaching your strategy and marketing through telling stories helps eliminate that overwhelm and makes doing the work ON your business creative, inspiring and effective.

Stories are the glue which hold humanity together. A good story fires up all parts of our brain, bringing connection, empathy and inspiration.

This course will teach you the foundations of good stories, spark hundreds of great ideas, help you hone engaging tales and write the story of the future your business.

It will take you, step-by-step, through a series of exercises that will help you pack a powerful story punch, supporting you to:

⭐SHAPE your story through accessible, useful and inspiring business strategy planning

⭐SHARE your story by crafting effective, engaging content about you and your business

⭐SHAKE UP your story by challenging the narratives you tell yourself about your business so you can create a more aligned, connected way of running a thriving small business.

Let's make telling stories your secret weapon!

You can also book in 1-2-1 mentoring with Sarah to go alongside the course.  More details on that below.

FAQs

Who is this course for?

Anyone who runs their own business, has a side project, a freelance practice or is part of a small team where strategy, planning and marketing are often on your to do list.

Will the course be captioned?

Yes, it will be.

I use clideo.com for my captioning, which is the most accurate I've found.  They are auto-captions, so there will be some occasional wonky bits though.

If you have other access needs, do get in touch.  I may only be a one-woman-band, but I am committed to creating welcoming accessible courses so will do what I can.

How long will I have course access for?

It's lifetime access.

By lifetime, it's as long as I keep it up on my website so won't be forever, but I guarantee it'll be a good few years and will give you ample warning when the time comes to retire it.

What contact do I have with Sarah?

Whilst the course is pre-recorded, that doesn't mean we should be strangers!  There are comment sections on each lesson where you can share your thoughts with me and all other participants.

I also actively encourage questions, insights and feedback via email whenever takes your fancy.

In short, please do keep in touch!

What is the time commitment?

Each module drops once a week over four weeks.

If you worked through it speedily, you could probably do all the lessons and worksheets in about 1.5-2 hours a week, but the course has been designed to cater for all schedules - you can dip in and out or do intensive sessions.  Whatever suits!

A word from your Course Leader:

Throughout my career in the arts, it has all been about stories.  I love telling stories and I love hearing them.

It was through stories I finally made a breakthrough in shaping the strategy for my business - I could do it my way, and I do it through telling stories.

I've spent a whole career running small businesses including a Young People's Theatre at the beginning, a couple of social enterprises, and my current solo business.  I know the ins and outs of what it takes to do ALL the jobs in a micro organisation and how to make it a success.

It's hard taking the path less trod, as you often have to draw the map as you go and as a constant outlier/pioneer, I've often taken the circuitous route to find the way that works.  Although it is harder and often quite frustrating, I wouldn't have it any other way!

When I'm not creating courses and coaching fabulous people, you can find me pottering about (I was even an "expert" on pottering on Woman's Hour on BBC R4 which is an accolade I hold dear!), you'll also find me doing beadwork, baking and hanging out with my gorgeous kids.
